Probably most of you are heavier and more educated eMule users then myself, however I hope some of the stuff will be found useful by few readers :
1. Windows OSs from XP SP2 and onwards are limiting the amount of half open connections. Crossing that limit due to improper settings or usage of half open connections by other applications can be verified by looking at event monitor - system event 4226. Limit can be changed or current value displayed on Vista / XP platforms by half open connection tool (http://half-open.com/home_en.htm).1. 2. Setting limits to both download and upload (at no more then 90% of your line capabilities) is likely to be the best practice for not causing your line to "choke". Other methods are basically using parts of your bandwidth as well as CPU cycles to get an educated guess about your line capacity at any given moment.2. 4. If you can afford few more MB of RAM (usually it's about 20-80 extra MB compared to queue of 2000), the best is to use unlimited or an upload queue of 5000. With mods that use SUQWT and no SUQWT you are improving the chances of none leecher clients to download from you.4. Se ci si può permettere di spendere qualche MB di RAM in più (in genere circa 20-80MB comparato ad una coda di 2000 utenti), il top è usare coda illimitata, o una coda di upload pari a 5000 posti. Con mod che usano il SUQWT (è il nostro caso) si aumentano le probabilità di non concedere upload a client leecher.
5. Try to use NTFS formated partition for your temp (and desired also incoming) dirs. Try to locate temp and incoming dirs on same partition (way lower IO when files download is done). If can be avoided try that such a partition won't be on swap file and OS physical disk.5. Provare ad usare una partizione formattata con file system NTFS per la tua cartella temp e incoming. Cercando di situare entrambe le cartelle nello stesso disco dove è installato il sistema operativo (stessa partizione logica).
6. Try to exclude temp dir from your Anti Virus (both scanner as well as guard) and defragment tool - since it's content is not "normal" files (when they are the download is finished and they are shifted to incoming).6. Cercare di escludere la cartella temp di emule dalle cartelle scansionate dall'Antivirus (sia scanner che controllo silenzioso, ergo background) e dai tool di deframmentazione, dato che i file nella cartella temp sono tutt'altro che file normali.
7. Try to avoid more then one P2P usage at any given moment, as well as adjust your upload and download bandwidth so that online games and sending attachments + your defined limits won't cross your line capacity.7. Cercare di non usare più di un programma P2P alla volta in modo da non sorpassare il limite di banda per evitare di rallentarla.
8. If your CPU is not very fast you can try to use higher (not highest !) priority to your running emule.exe process by process explorer or any other tool or within mod (if changing mod priority is available).8. Nel caso in cui la CPU non fosse molto potente, provare ad aumentare la priorità del processo di emule, ma non impostate mai la massima priorità, limitatevi ad aumentare di un valore il livello di proprietà (ad esempio in XP Pro SP2 la priorità predefinita è “normale”, potete impostarla su “SupNormale” ma mai mettere la priorità al massimo. Questo ammesso che sia possibile cambiare la priorità al processo.
